Seon(zen) breath, Anapanasati

In Seonmodo, breathing is soft and quiet through meditation.

Anbansu is called Anapanasati. ‘An’ means inhalation with ana, ‘ban’ means exhalation with apana, and ‘soo-ui’ means immersing and concentrating the mind in one place with sati.

Susikkwan is a practice of observing all phenomena occurring in the body and mind while counting the breaths by balancing inhalation and exhalation.

Harmony between body and mind through breathing

breathing (breathing)

“Breathing” is the first function of maintaining human life and plays an important role in blood circulation as well as vitality of the lungs, which act to absorb and release energy.

When a person is excited or stressed, breathing becomes short and oxygen supply to the body is significantly reduced. This is because when the cerebral cortex is excited, the function of the autonomic nervous system, which is related to the activities of the five organs, is suppressed, so the balance inside the body is broken. In this case, taking a good breath or doing Haenggong can relieve fatigue and free you from stress, the source of all diseases. In this way, when breathing becomes quicker, the heart beats faster and puts a lot of burden on the heart.

When the breath becomes calm, the mind gets more energy and a feeling of happiness arises. Be mindful of the entire process of breathing from beginning to end and enjoy breathing. Just sitting knowing your in-breath and out-breath makes you happy and content. It is very important to allow the breath to become still. If you let it become still, it will stop and what is still will disappear. This process is samadhi practice. Also, while breathing becomes still, mindfulness is developed. And when the power of mindfulness is strong, joy and happiness arise spontaneously.

In this way, you can lead your body and mind into a harmonious state through deep good breathing.
